Correct-ish. I have read the books. And Before committing myself to writing Rams I went back and reread all the parts with him, or mention of him. I prefer show Rams to book Rams for many reasons. One being, Iwan Rheon, is such a little cutie patootie. And who doesn’t like an attractive villain? amirite? Lol
Second, I feel the book really lacks in WHO Ramsay Snow-Bolton is. Sure, we see him, the things he has done/does, but it’s very bland. Now, I feel the show gave more to Ramsay in this respect. He is not a boring character.
Third, I have a passion about behaviors and personality disorders (Being a Psych grad student with an emphasis in ABA) and I feel show Ramsay gives me more to work with, ya know? We can really get a feel for his personality. Nobody likes a boring bad guy.
It is always mentioned that Ramsay is cunning, but the books, I feel, lack that. He’s written as chaotically evil with no real “reason”. But there is always a reason. Behavior and actions do not ‘just happen out of the blue’.
And I like to play on Ramsay’s cunning, which is easy with Iwan’s FC. This gives me the ability to play up cunning via charm and ‘manners’. Many ‘bad guys’ are smart as shit, Jeffrey Dahmer in example. Or even Hannibal Lecter, in regards to fiction.
I like to give Ramsay personality and being a ‘human’ as much as being a ‘monster’. The real kinds of things to fear, when dealing with people like him. The cunning, desire, and obsession. The personality and ability.
Sometimes to see people write him off as just some kind of maniac killer with no intentions or stale personality that does not support his actions is a bit boring. So I put my own, educated, and imagined twist on our favorite bad guy to hate.
But, hey, maybe sometime I’ll remember to write in the red garnet earring. 😉
As fucking hot as Ramsay flinging arrows at Jon IS, it’s complete and utter BULLSHIT.
Number one: Ramsay would NOT have wasted his shot on a dying giant, he IS NOT THAT STUPID. Ramsay is notorious for being cunning and devious. He would have taken his clear shot at Jon while he was distracted, honorable fight be damned.
Number two: After the initial shot that Jon blocked with a shield, he would NOT have kept shooting. Ramsay is a scrapper who hates to lose, who is too proud and stubborn to go down without a fight. After it was clear the bow was not a good choice, he would have tossed it and gone with his sword because it would have been his best chance at winning against a battle weakened Jon Snow.
Number Three: He would NOT have just lain there and let himself get beat to a pulp. I don’t care if he knew he’d lost or not, I refuse to believe he would just lay down and give in.
Number Four: WHY THE FUCK IS EVERYONE SO ON ABOUT WINTERFELL AS SOME SORT OF UNBREAKABLE FORTRESS?? IT LITERALLY HAS A WEAK-ASS WOODEN DOOR AND THAT’S ALL! THE DREADFORT AT LEAST HAD A PORTCULLIS!!!
Seriously, fuck this cop out of a character arc cutoff for the sake of moving the plot along too quickly.
This, and he would not have lost the BotB to begin with. He’s too cunning and smart to not think of the fact that hm, there might be reinforcements coming in at some point. 🙄
I haven’t watched GoT in a long-ass time and I don’t really know why? It’s time for me to get back on that shit because holy shit I miss Ramsay’s sweet ass. 👌🏻
