Favorite Moment of Every Episode | Season Three Episode Nine | The Rains of Castamere

This is long overdue. I was putting it off because 1. I was finishing up Misfits and 2. It’s such an emotional episode.

But thankfully, there are quite a few special moments strewn throughout, so it was fairly easy to pick two.

The first one is when Gilly tells Sam he is a wizard. If you remember back to Season One, Sam tells Jon that he wishes he were a wizard/that he always wanted to be a wizard, so it’s definitely a sweet, endearing moment.

The second is when Talisa suggests naming their child Eddard if it were a boy. The first time I saw this episode, I choked up at this part. Of course, right after that, Talisa is stabbed in her womb, causing both herself and her baby to die. So, it’s very bittersweet, but one of my favorite moments of the episode all the same.

Honorable mentions go to Rickon saying goodbye to Bran (and, well, the last time we even see Rickon until Ramsay kills him), and Roose Bolton, Troll Extraordinaire.

The rest of the episode is rather depressing and won’t be talked about.

Just thinking about Ramsay…

So, I know Ramsay is horrible (especially book Ramsay, holy shit, but let’s not think about him because, ew, no) and really caused a lot of upheaval but here’s the thing about him that I can really respect.

The North is a very old place, full of tradition and hard knocks and sturdy people…and Ramsay is a Northerner through and through and that is ALL HE WANTS TO BE.

While everyone else (besides ths Starks) are scrambling around for the throne, the right to rule the 7 kingdoms, all Ramsay wants is to be recognized as a Bolton, to take his claim on the Dreadfort and then the title of Warden of the North. That is literally it. He never showed one inkling of wanting anything more than the North.

I mean, sure, the Boltons really went about it in an underhanded way, but their desire for the North echoes the Starks, with their lineage being able to trace back to the First Men right alongside them, and it just shows that the people from there are a whole different breed and power honestly means less than their pride and their homeland.
