Requested by @slightlystrangesimmer: “Hiiiii, it’s me again! Are you annoyed by me yet? Can I get 1, 2, 4, 9, 16, and 17 from your most recent dialogue prompts for Kai? If that’s too many please tell me, or feel free to split them into two if you want! Thank you, you are the best! 💕”
A/N: I am certainly not sick of you, I love that you give me so much work for our small anger baby! He can be soft too, at times. Also, forgive me, I’m not completely satisfied with this work; I just hope it’s decent enough to pass.
[Dialogue Prompts #31]
Late nights were no strangers to you. Insomnia had made you well acquainted with the late hours of the night and early hours of the morning. There were some times where you didn’t catch a wink of sleep for up to seventy-two hours. It wasn’t for lack of trying, but no matter how much effort you gave to relaxing your mind enough to fall asleep, you never could.
Tonight was one of those nights for you. It was going on three in the morning, and you were curled up in your bedroom, a blanket tucked around your legs and a bowl of burnt popcorn to snack from you as you idly watched the show displayed on the small television screen.
The house was quiet, leaving you in peace to do as you wished. Kai and Winter had left for another mission, one that Kai had demanded you stay away from, for whatever reason he had in his elusive mind. As curious and confused as you had been, you knew better than to question the man who had become not only your Divine Ruler, but the man who had readily taken you in when you had nowhere else to go after getting kicked out of your previous home.
Before long you heard them come home, the rest of the group in tow. You knew from experience that they would congregate in the modified basement where Kai would deliver a few final words to summarize the current events and plans before dismissing them. Then he and Winter would clean themselves up before trudging on to bed for a few hours of sleep, something that even you couldn’t manage to achieve.
Your attention was drawn from the TV when your door opened. Kai peeked his head in, the grungy mess of faded cobalt framing his picturesque features. He looked only faintly surprised to find you sat up in your bed, your eyes heavy with unattainable sleep but otherwise alert.
“You’re still awake?”
Pushing the door open a little more, he stepped inside and let it float closed behind him. He came to sit on the edge of your bed, reaching into the bowl and grabbing a handful of popcorn, bringing it to his mouth.
You shrugged and gave him a small, tired smile. “When aren’t I?”
“This is bad, like,” Kai grimaced, spitting out the mushed remains of the charred kernels, “This is bad …”
“You’ve said that already …”
“It seemed worth repeating.” Opening his hand, he dropped the rest of the untouched pieces back into the bowl with a sigh. “Anyways, Scott’s been taken care of. Meadow damn near hacked his head clean off.”
The sadistic delight at the recollection shone through in his tone and eyes. It was as though he were reliving the moment, experiencing again the visceral justice of a pedophile’s principled demise.
You just shook your head. “You’re a psychopath.”
“I prefer creative.” He looked to you. “And willing to do what needs to be done.”
When he reached out to grab your hand, you lifted your eyes to look at his. The malicious glint in them had softened to a more affectionate light. It confused you to see the difference. You frowned, your brows drawing down towards the bridge of your nose ever so gently.
Flicking his gaze briefly down to your lips, he leaned in and kissed them. The gesture was surprisingly soft. His lips glided tenderly against your own, gingerly enticing you to return the loving gesture before he pulled back.
Your eyes were wide. “You kissed me …”
He rolled his eyes at your blatant declaration. “How observant.”
“… Why?”
“I wanted to,” he answered simply before elaborating, “You’re different, [Y/N]. You’re amazing, devoted, exactly what a hive looks for in its queen.”
Kai’s gimmick related to a beehive, out of all things. Personally you considered it a silly concept, but in actuality, it did make sense. Every bee in the hive worked together as unit, created a team that stood united in solidarity, and rose to protect the queen should she ever become endangered.
If Kai were to consider anyone his “queen bee,” you would have guessed Beverly would have been elected to that level. She was strong, loyal, not afraid to speak her mind or question when she thought Kai needed to think a little more about something before diving headfirst into it. You never thought that the term could ever be applied to you.
“Kai,” you spoke, your voice a mere whisper, “I’m not what you deserve.”
Really he deserved much more than you. He deserved someone like Beverly, someone who possessed that strength and that drive, that passion that she had. She rivaled Kai in the best of ways. You just couldn’t see what you could possibly have to offer him in comparison.
“Maybe,” he admitted. “But you’re what I need.”
Reaching to grab the back of your head gingerly, he brought you forward to meet him halfway. Like before, his lips laid over yours. This time, however, he was met with little hesitation. Almost immediately you reciprocated, letting your lips slide smoothly along his, eyes fluttering as he suckled tenderly on your bottom one. His teeth nibbled faintly before taking hold, dragging the roll of flesh out as he pulled away slowly, letting it roll free from his possession as it gradually slipped from his teeth with a final tug.
He pushed his forehead to yours, his nose gently bumping into your own. “You’re what the group needs, [Y/N]. I need you.”
“Well this isn’t really how I imagined tonight would go …” you murmured before a smile spread to your face, lighting up your features as you went back in for another kiss. “But I’m not complaining.”
Gah, this is beautiful. Who knew our darling psycho could be so tender?
